It's Florida. There's gators. This painting comes from an encounter I had with a very docile, very large, very fat gator at the Lake Apopka wildlife drive. It was lounging on the bank as I gazed in awe and snapped as many photos as I could. Taking a photo just wasn't enough, though; I had to paint it. I may not yet be done creating paintings of this particular marvel of a reptile. The gator population was one of the selling points for me of moving to Florida, but this particular gator was special. Call it awe, perhaps deep admiration , either way I still can't get over how amazing nature is with creatures like this in the wild and on full display.
